The Rotary Club of East Jordan proudly hosted its annual Rotary Sports Night, also known as Purple Pinky Night, on Thursday, February 12, bringing together community members for an evening of fun, festivities, and fundraising in support of Rotary’s global fight to end polio.

Held during an exciting night of high school basketball, the event allowed Rotarians and community members to cheer on the East Jordan Red Devils while raising awareness and funds for Rotary International’s End Polio Now campaign. The evening featured games, great prizes, and plenty of fun for attendees of all ages. A highlight of the festivities took place at halftime, when participants launched paper airplanes toward Rotary Club members for a chance to win gift cards and other prizes - a crowd favorite that filled the gym with laughter and friendly competition.

Purple Pinky Night symbolizes Rotary’s commitment to eradicating polio worldwide. In many countries, a child’s pinky finger is marked with purple ink after receiving the life-saving polio vaccine. Thanks to the efforts of Rotary and its global partners, polio cases have been reduced by more than 99% worldwide, but continued fundraising and awareness are critical to finishing the job.

The Rotary Club of East Jordan is a proud supporter of East Jordan High School and values opportunities like Rotary Sports Night that strengthen community connections while advancing Rotary’s humanitarian mission. “All funds raised during Purple Pinky Night directly support Rotary’s global effort to eliminate polio,” said Club President Jennifer Burr. “It’s inspiring to see our community come together to support the Red Devils and make a difference around the world at the same time.”

The Rotary Club of East Jordan extends its sincere thanks to everyone who participated, donated, and helped make the evening a success. For more information about the East Jordan Rotary Club or to learn how you can help end polio, please visit their website at www.EJRotary.com.
